What is Angel Food?

Angel Food Ministries is a national non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States. Angel Food currently works through churches and community organizations in over 20 states.

Angel Food's groceries are sold in a quantity that can fit into a medium-sized box at only $29 per unit. Each month's menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $50 to $78.

Generally, one unit of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week or a single senior citizen for almost a month. The food is all the same high quality one would purchase at a grocery store; there are no second-hand or damaged items and no out-dated goods.

Also offered are specialty boxes such as steaks, chicken and pork. Many participants in this bonus program appreciate the expanded choices. Additionally, there is no limit to number of units or bonus foods an individual can purchase.

There are no applications to complete or qualifications to which participants must adhere. Angel Food Ministries, like all other retail grocery stores, also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp program, using the Off-Line Food Stamp Voucher System.

How the Program Works

To order Angel Food, come in on one of our order days to place your order. Payment in full (in the form of cash, money order, or food stamp card) is required at the time you place the order. We do not accept phone or mail in orders, or personal checks. At the time of your order, you will be given a receipt with the date and time for pick-up.

You can pick up you order on Distribution Day. Distribution Day is always a Saturday morning, usually the last Saturday of the month. On Distribution Day you will need to bring a cardboard box and your receipt. (At this time, we do not accept any other containers. Be sure to bring a cardboard box only.)

We do a drive-though method for pick-up. You will be greeted by one of our volunteers at your car and they will take your cardboard box and receipt for you. Then, you will follow the directions around the church where your filled box will be brought out to you at your car. It's that easy!

If you decide you would like to place an order for the following month, you will also have an opportunity to do that on Distribution Day.

The specified time on your receipt is the only time you may pick up your food. If you fail to come during the allotted time, your food will be donated to others in need!
